Motorola Xoom to hit store shelves on February 24?

Best Buy Facebook Page

CES 2011 saw a mouthful of Android wonders marking their presence and Motorola’s Xoom tablet based on the Honeycomb platform stood out for obvious reasons. It was after all claimed to be the first device to have been ported on Android 3.0. There were however no pricing and availability details then. Though there isn’t anything official from Motorola even now, DroidLife shares that Best Buy’s Facebook page seems to have let the cat out of the bag.

This isn’t the first time that there have been speculations surrounding the Xoom. Hearsay earlier hinted at the tablet being available on February 17. But Grand Rapids Best Buy Facebook page yesterday slipped out a week later i.e. February 24 to be the tentative release date. The Facebook page is obviously no longer live. The Xoom grabbed quite its share of limelight with a 10.1” HD display and the Android Honeycomb 3.0 OS at the CES this year.

Along with the Xoom, the page also had details about HTC’s Thunderbolt smartphone. Reportedly, the handset will see the light of day on February 14. Samsung Presto ‘Hotspot’ could well also be releasing on February 17 as per the page.

We can’t wait to see the respective companies give their take on this prattle by Best Buy through Facebook. Giving out the release dates and pricing once and for all could well, just be a better way to stop the rumor mills from churning.
