Christofle scrawls signature over LaCie luxury Galet USB drive

LaCie Christofle Galet

Describing their latest offering as a ‘conversation piece that proves beauty and functionality can easily co-exist in our daily lives’, LaCie has introduced the Galet USB drive designed by Christofle. The device proudly flaunts a silver-plated body and fits itself into a form factor resembling a pebble.

The Galet has been hand-crafted in France using Christofle’s silvering technique which is apparently 150 years old. After going through a final finishing and polishing process, the USB drive is assembled and bundled into a gift box along with a keychain strap.

“The spirit and philosophies of Christofle and its luxury brand, combined with the technical expertise of LaCie, have come together to transform a universal technology into an object that is as beautiful and simple as a treasured piece of jewelry,” remarked Luc Pierart, Business Unit Manager, Consumer Peripherals, LaCie. “Each time you open it, its mystery is revealed – an elegant USB key.”

This USB 2.0 drive works with USB 3.0 as well as USB 1.1 standards. Weighing merely 1.34oz, the Galet measures 3.1” x 1.5” x 0.3” in dimensions. It offers compatibility with Windows XP/Vista/7 and Mac OS X 10.5/10.6. Mac users are extended Mac Intel for LaCie Private-Public utility aimed at password protection.

Available with 4GB of hoarding space and loaded with password protection software, the Galet costs $130 (approx. Rs. 5,930) at the LaCie online portal as well as Christofle boutiques across the globe .
