Strontium SSDs launched for the Indian market

Evidently, SSDs have been gaining popularity for delivering substantial performance boost over mechanical hard disk drives. Strontium now claims to bring in the fastest solid state drive with its Matrix series offering 128GB storage space.

This 25nm NAND flash memory touts to provide more performance and reliability features while targeting corporate IT and PC enthusiasts. The technical spec sheet of the Matrix series reveals 2.5-inch form factor and Marvell 88SS9174-BLD2 controller. The SSD’s random read/write performance is up to 40,000/50,000IOPS. The 128GB model brings in a read/write speed of 415/175MB per second using SATA-3.

With an advertising campaign to promote SSD in the Indian market, Vivian Singh, Director and Co-Founder of Strontium Technology, said, “The key message of the campaign called ‘Boot up Faster’ is to use Strontium SSD for faster boot up and accelerated application performance.”

He further said, “Our continued expansion in India will allow us to work closely with System Integrators and Channel customers in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, to provide leading edge, top quality products with unparalleled service. Most of our partners and customers understand the benefits of Major Brand Chipsets. Now we can be closer to them and respond more quickly to their requirements.”

The company has also launched its mainstream SSD Gamma series. The 2.5-inch Gamma SSD can be picked in 60GB and 120GB while they utilize 25nmMLC NAND and Sandforce SF-1222 controller. These SSDs deliver a read and write speed of 200MBps and 100MBps respectively. The pricing details are unclear.
