Seagate magnifies memory space with 3TB FreeAgent GoFlex Desk

Digital storage horizons have expanded through varied storage devices and capabilities. Seagate has announced supposedly the world’s first 3TB external desktop drive. The 3TB FreeAgent GoFlex Desk external hard drive can be termed as new high point in the technological memory space.

Opening a huge landscape of storage space, the device enables users to encapsulate their work and home environments into the small black box. Users can now store up to 120 HD movies, thousands of pictures, 1,500 video games and boundless hours of digital music. Delivering unrestrained, amass storage space, it also offers constant backup with software file encryption, enabling users to secure their data.

Its 3.5-inch sleek and slim design makes it possible for users to fit in the device both vertically and horizontally into all types of desktop PCs. Whether the computing device is supported by Windows or Mac operating systems, the FreeAgent GoFlex has been devised to create, store and access content.

“As the definition quality of digital cameras increases, playback devices such as digital photo frames and MP3 players proliferate and the use of the Internet for downloading music and video continues to grow, more files accumulate in the home,” remarked Kurt Scherf, vice president and principle analyst of Parks Associates. “Consumers who are active in digital media creation and consumption will witness their digital media storage needs grow nine-fold by 2014, driving the demand for higher capacity, easy-to-use storage solutions.”

An NTFS driver has been incorporated to ease its operation on the Mac OS. This enables the drive to store and access information without reformatting. In addition, once installed on a Mac computer, users can also read and write files on a Windows drive. It has also been attuned to upgrade USB 2.0 interface to a USB 3.0. Plus, the FireWall 800 connection has been outfitted into the device to match diverse performance and transfer speeds of different computing systems.
