Broadening the terrain of its functional role, Samsung has lately revealed the Story Station Plus, its new line-up of 3.5-inch external hard drives. Featuring an external serial eSATA interface, the device proffers eminently fast data transfer for prodigious performance. The high performance 3.0 Gbps drives can be clenched in up to 2-terabyte densities, offering users an overly efficient external storage solution.

The incorporated eSATA interface considerably elevates the data transfer speed of the series by more than six-fold in comparison to models employing a USB 2.0 interface. The productive Story Station Plus comes with enormous flexibility, enabling users to utilize either the 480 Mbps USB 2.0 or the 3.0 Gbps eSATA interface.

“Samsung new line of high-density solutions with the eSATA interface give users the speed they need for demanding tasks like photo and video editing, plus safely storing multimedia content libraries,” stated H.S. Lee, vice president, storage marketing, Samsung Electronics. “The 2TB density Story Station Plus drive can store the data equivalent of 500,000 MP3 music files, 560,000 digital photo images, or 880 hours of high resolution video.”

Moving on, the new Story Station line-up also integrates Samsung’s low standby power design for significantly eliminating the standby power by nearly 96 percent to 0.1 watts from the conventional 2.5 watts. Available in densities ranging from 1TB to 2TB, the 3.5-inch drive embodies an aluminum outer casing for effective heat dispersion. Its highlighting features subsume Samsung Auto Backup for ongoing data preservation, SecretZone software for personal data encryption and SafetyKey for password protection.

The Story Station Plus is expected to be available worldwide by the end of November 2009. Its 2TB version can be grappled for $299 (approx Rs. 13,860). The drive will be backed by a three-year limited warranty.
