Data Robotics recently expanded its Drobo lineup by introducing an innovative storage solution for Windows, Mac, and Linux users, christened Drobo S. The storage solution delivers high-speed data transfers and reliable data storage.
The device is inclusive of eSATA and a fifth drive bay. It offers enhancements to FireWire 800 throughput. With BeyondRAID, the Drobo S frequently scans data blocks and sectors on each drive to flag prospective issues.

The storage solution is based on the BeyondRAID virtualized storage platform which eliminates the lock-in of the conventional RAID configurations. With the dual drive redundancy option one-click toggle between single and dual-drive redundancy protects against two concurrent drive failures.

Further, the defensive ‘scrubbing’ ensures that data is being written only to healthy drive areas and automatically keeps data in the safest state. Drobo S also allows users to insert a new hard drive or replace the smallest drive with a larger one, even when all five drive bays are full.
Drobo S is offered at a starting price of MSRP $799 (approx. Rs. 37,222), while the 10TB (5x 2TB) solution costs $1,799 (approx. Rs. 83,821).
