Lexar rolls out JumpDrive SAFE S3000 FIPS USB flash drive

Lexar JumpDrive SAFE S3000 USB flash drives have gained immense popularity in the modern world. We have earlier seen a host of USB drives. Just recently we witnessed the launch of the Transcend JetFlash V85 USB drive. And now Lexar introduces the JumpDrive SAFE S3000 a FIPS certified USB Flash drive.

The SAFE S3000 features a hardware encryption and a tamper resistant smart card that ensures the security of data. This drive claims to be the first smart card-based FIPS 140-2 Level 3 validated flash drive. The drive is said to feature a waterproof metal chassis that protects the drive from physical damage. This metal chassis complies with the military 810-F waterproof standards.

This flash drive measures 75mm x 25mm x 14mm and weighs approximately 48grams. It also features a blue LED indicator. The JumpDrive offers read/write speeds of 30Mbps and 22Mbps respectively. The SAFE S3000 is compatible with Windows as well as Mac operating systems.

The Lexar JumpDrive SAFE S3000 FIPS USB flash drive will be offered in select European markets by 2010. This drive will be offered in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB storage capacities. The pricing details of the device are yet to be disclosed.
