Buffalo TeraStation iSCSI With the launch of new TeraStation iSCSI range of storage devices, Buffalo has expanded its very popular TeraStation family, in the Indian market. Targeted at small and medium businesses (SMB), the latest releases are available in two different styles, namely Pedestal and Rackmount. These models comes in three different high-capacity configuration – 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB, offering relief to consumer with this vast and secured storage space.

The iSCSI protocol can transport simple SCSI storage commands over standard TCP/IP networks. The iSCSI targets basically try to give servers a false impression that they are locally attached disks that can be directly accessed by the OS. Users can locate the iSCSI targets anywhere on the network.

To make it a perfect solution for server backup or backup strategies involving remote locations, the multiple iSCSI targets can be unified into one range that delivers supplementary storage configurations

“As companies grow and move increasing amounts of data to the datacenter for consolidation or to an off-site storage location, they experience the need for flexible and intuitive storage devices that make data storage handling simple, manageable and reliable. The new TeraStation iSCSI is a powerful SMB solution that delivers this extended functionality while still fitting into the budget of cost conscious SMB purchasers,” mentioned Atsuo Shibata, Country Manager, Buffalo India.

The TeraStation iSCSI storage devices are bundled with four quick swap hard drive trays, which are situated behind the screwless front bezel. Both the units claim that their design can protect high speed 7,200 RPM SATA drives and offer easy access and drive replacement, concurrently. Furthermore, the latest additions also sport an advanced RAID system with four RAID modes, namely RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, and RAID 10.

Both the storage devices are pre-loaded with a silent cooling fan to keep them cool by discharging heat. That very moment, the included front panel LCD display indicates the status of the device. The included a 10/100/1000 Ethernet interface allows existing network infrastructure to be used competently.

Coming to individual features, the TeraStation iSCSI Rackmount has been developed in such a manner that it can assimilated into any structured IT environment, without any hassle. All you need to do is mount it into a relay rack or server cabinet. For convenience, it can fit into standard 19-inch racks and occupies 2U of space. For more ease, 2-post and 4-post mounting brackets are also available. On the other hand, the pedestal style TeraStation iSCSI does away without rack or cabinet space, attracting branch offices or departments in larger organizations without dedicated server closets.

Buffalo’s Pedestal version of TeraStation iSCSI storage device is priced at Rs. 67,000 (1 TB), Rs. 84,000 (2 TB) and Rs. 1,30,000 (4 TB). The Buffalo TeraStation iSCSI Rackmount would cost Rs. 72,500 for 1TB, Rs. 93,000 for 2 TB and Rs. 1,46,000 for 4 TB.
