Kingston Introduces Two New USB Drives in U.S.

Kingston USB Drives Kingston yesterday introduced two new USB flash drives called Migo drive and DataTraveler 100, in the U.S. market.

The DataTraveler 100 is a capless drive, wherein the USB connector is houses inside the DataTraveler’s case. Users can slide the USB connector with “thumb action” when they want to use the drive. It is the first time that Kingston has launched a sliding action USB drive.

The DataTraveler 100 will be available in four capacities 1GB, 2GB, 4GB and 8GB and they will cost $19, $32, $59 and $116 respectively.

The other newly launched USB drive, the Migo drive offers capacity of 8GB and comes along with data synchronization software. Kingston has also introduced a new feature called Universal Mail Format that the Migo drive offers. The new feature allows users to access email among different clients like Windows Mail, Outlook, and Outlook Express.

The Migo software allows users to work on the various computers, using same specifications as their own computer like desktop email, internet settings, favorites, cookies, history also files and folders. When users sit back on his/her host computer, the software synchronizes all the files and settings. In literal sense, users can carry their computer in their pockets now.

Specifications of the Migo drive are:

  • Capacity – 8GB
  • Migo Supported Clients – Internet Browsers: Microsoft Internet Explorer (5.0 and above), Mozilla Firefox (1.5 and above); Email: Windows Mail, Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2007 (with POP/SMTP and Exchange server), Outlook Express (5.0 and above), Mozilla Thunderbird (1.5 and above)
  • Operating Systems – Microsoft Vista, Windows XP (SP1 and above), and 2000 (SP4)
  • The new Kingston Migo drive will be available in US market at the price $154 and carries five years warranty with it.
