Nvidia claims to have devised a GPU that provides an extremely powerful tessellation performance with their new GeForce GTX 480 GPU. Apart from the GeForce GTX 480, Nvidia has also revealed the GeForce GTX 470 GPU, both of which are the first offerings in the company’s Fermi line of consumer products. Moreover, tech world will be treated to additional GeForce 400-series products by Nvidia in the coming months.

The GPUs integrate several gaming centered features including Nvidia 3D Vision Surround and real-time ray tracing for ultra photo-realistic scenes. The GeForce GTX 480 GPU renders high resolution and quality settings, even on the freshest DirectX 11 games. Its Nvidia PolyMorph Engine is a scalable geometry processing engine ideal for DirectX 11 tessellation with 32x anti-aliasing that smooths edges providing high-quality visuals. Exclusive Nvidia software automatically converts over 400 game titles to stereoscopic 3D without special game patches.

“The GeForce GTX 480 is something we’ve been eagerly anticipating. Microsoft designed DirectX 11 for Windows 7 with native support for GPGPU, tessellation, and improved multi-threading. Nvidia clearly embraced this and designed the GTX 480 with scalable tessellation architecture in a multi-core environment to bring game development to a new level. And, we think developers will be impressed to see how they can truly take advantage of the power of DX11 to create compelling games, as well as multimedia applications,” commented Mike Angiulo, general manager, Windows planning and PC ecosystem, Microsoft.

The Cuda architecture harnesses the power of the GPU for hardcore multimedia applications and lends full support to Windows 7. Nvidia’s PhysX technology offers enhanced game effects while the company’s GigaThread scheduler enables up to 10-times speedier switching between graphics and physics processing. The device can deliver 746M pixels/second at full HD 1080p resolutions. 3D Vision Surround technology extends users an immersive gaming experience when combined with Nvidia 3D Vision wireless active shutter glasses.

Nvidia has not revealed the pricing details of their GeForce GTX 480 and GeForce GTX 470 GPUs that are scheduled to be out by mid-April this year.
