Griffin uncovers iTrip FM transmitter and Controller app

Griffin iTrip transmitter

The FM transmitter apparently started out as an accessory for iPod owners only. Griffin Technology has now managed to merge the iTrip with the iPhone as well. The company’s latest iTrip FM transmitter and Controller app is designed to be iPod and iPhone compatible.

Any iPhone or iPod touch operating with iPhone OS 3.0 can accommodate the transmitter that incorporates a Controller app too. The app has a backlit LCD displaying a simple tuning mechanism. The SmartScan button establishes the optimum frequency and SmartSound EQ technology tweaks with the each frequency’s signal strength. Users can preset up to three preferred channels and listen to music in mono or stereo mode. The software and hardware are combined to send feedback to the iTrip to adjustments made on the apps and vice versa, in as efficient a manner as possible.

The device is engineered to broadcast music, audio books, podcasts and more to any available frequency and also show track and artist information on RDS enabled radios. The micro-USB port can be used to charge any USB-powered iPhone or iPod. PowerJolt or PowerBlock too function with these appliances through the dock connector.

Add to those features the large menu button, SmartSound on/off option, and transport controls that allow the user to change tracks from the iTrip itself.

The Controller app can be downloaded from the official Griffin website. The iTrip can be purchased at all retailers at $49.99 (approx. Rs.2,396).
