A few days back we reported about the launch of the Sony Bravia ZX5 series. And now, Sony has unveiled two new high definition multi-room audio/video receivers dubbed STR-DA5500ES and STR-DA3500ES. The STR-DA5500ES is claimed to be the first receiver from Sony that offers control over an IP network. Both these Elevated Standard (ES) receivers are said to be easy to use solutions that promise to bring entertainment to multiple rooms.
The STR-DA5500ES is said to feature IP network control allowing users to integrate into the Control4 home automation systems. It also offers support for special Control4 developed and certified IP network applications. Along with this, the receiver also features Automatic Phase Matching, Digital Media Port and HD Digital Cinema Sound technologies.
When connected via Ethernet cable, this receiver allows users to access photos and digital music from any Digital Life Network Alliance (DLNA) compliant source. This receiver also features 120-watt power amplifier x 7, six HDMI inputs and two HDMI outputs. It supports 1080p video and x.v.Color and Deep Color video codecs. It also offers users the option to upscale their video with the help of the Faroudja chip.

The STR-DA3500ES is a 7.1 channel AV receiver that features a 100-watt amplifier x 7 and four HDMI inputs. Most of the features of this receiver are similar to the STR-DA5500ES. This receiver also includes the Digital Media Port that simplifies the process of connecting the iPod to the receiver.
The Sony STR-DA3500ES and the Sony STR-DA5500ES are backed by a five year limited warranty. These receivers will be made available online via the company’s official website and authorized Sony dealers. The Sony STR-DA5500ES will retail for around $2,000 (approx. Rs. 96,947) while the Sony STR-DA3500ES will cost $1,000 (approx. Rs. 48,480).
