Sprint comes in with LG Optimus S handset

LG Optimus S Handset Sprint’s mobile phone kitty has seen multiple devices featuring popular platforms. LG Electronics and the network provider have now released a new Android-powered smartphone, the LG Optimus S. The personalization experience is rendered by Sprint ID which was earlier incorporated in the Sanyo Zio.

Sporting a sleek design, the latest offering comes with a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen and virtual QWERTY keyboard. Its 3.2MP camera with 2x digital zoom allows photography enthusiasts to capture crystal clear images. With support for up to 32GB, the handset integrates microSD card slot for enhancing storage facilities.

“We are committed to bringing our customers a variety of choices in devices that offer Sprint ID. LG Optimus comes packed with Android 2.2, a 3.2MP camera and visual voicemail at an amazing price. This stylish and feature-rich smartphone is sure to be a hit for the holiday season. We are anxious to introduce it this fall,” shared Fared Adib, Vice President – Product Development, Sprint.

Powered by Android 2.2, the LG Optimus S smartphone enables users with access to over 80,000 apps from the Android Market. The Sprint ID allows users to download ID packs, including applications, widgets, ringtones and wallpapers, simultaneously. Additionally, users can connect up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices with its Mobile Hotspot capability which is charged $29.99 (approx Rs. 1,339) for a month.

Owners need to activate any Sprint Everything Data plans for the handset. The LG Optimus S smartphone will be available through all Sprint retail channels beginning October 31 for $49.99 (approx Rs. 2,232) with a new two-year service agreement or eligible upgrade and after a $100 (approx Rs. 4,465) mail-in rebate, excluding taxes.
