It’s raining Windows Phone 7 based handsets and Microsoft sure seems to be on a roll. LG is also among the device makers to have partnered with Microsoft for incorporation of the platform in an array of their phones. The LG Optimus 7 and Optimus 7Q phones are revealed to be the company’s first Windows Phone 7 devices. Paving a new path in content sharing, the phones have been designed to offer information quickly.

Blended with features distinct to just the LG devices, the phones include the Play To, augmented reality (AR) and Voice-to-Text functions. These are featured as Live Tiles on Windows Phone 7 and can be reached through built-in ‘Hubs’. People, Pictures, Games, Music + Video, Marketplace and Office are the six hubs of the OS. Putting entertainment convenience right at the center of attention, Play To will give users a friendly way of sharing and accessing files. The DLNA-based technology is designed to allowing divvying up multimedia files without the hassles of entering other menus.

“We have designed LG Optimus 7 series to include a truly innovative sharing experience via the Windows Phone 7 environment,” mentioned Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Having worked closely with Micro-soft to develop these fantastic devices, we are thrilled to now be able to reveal our vision of what a true Windows Phone 7 should be.”

Windows Phone 7 is designed to bring together what you care about most and LG is a key partner in making that experience a reality for people around the world.”

Another distinct attribute of the new LG phones is the ScanSearch AR application which enables gaining more real-time information. As for LG’s Voice-to-Text feature, users have the opportunity to transcribe their voice into text. The introduction of Microsoft’s popular Xbox Live and Zune services for virtually all Windows Phone 7 handsets isn’t different for the LG series. Both the Optimus 7 and the Optimus 7Q are upfront on the digital entertainment terrain too with support for 720p HD video resolution and 16:9 aspect for both shooting and viewing content. The phones will be infused with a 5MP camera complete with features like Intelligent Shot and Panoramic Mode.

While the Optimus 7 is outfitted with a wide 3.8 inch WVGA LCD display having a resolution of 800×480 pixels, the Optimus 7Q shows off a 3.5 inch display with the same resolution. The internal memory of these phones is a generous 16GB while the large 1500mAh removable battery should suffice the needs of a host of activities. In addition to this, the Optimus 7Q features an ergonomic QWERTY keypad and should hold attention of those on the prowl for a complete Office experience with integrated Microsoft Word Mobile, Microsoft PowerPoint Mobile, OneNote Mobile and Excel Mobile.

LG keeps the price of these phones under wraps for now though they can be expected to hit shelves in more than 35 countries through 100 global partners and operators. Starting with Europe and Asia, the handsets are expected to land on October 21, 2010.
