Palm Treo 800w Windows Mobile Smartphone Released by Sprint

Palm Treo 800w We had earlier reported about the 800w prototype that Palm was working on, now Palm Treo 800w has been officially released. Sprint has rolled out the new Palm Treo 800w business smartphone in the American market.

Based on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, the latest device helps business professionals to enjoy high-speed productivity while globe-trotting by using Sprint’s Mobile Broadband Network, EV-DO Rev support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g for data and GPS capabilities. It also comes pre-installed with Microsoft Exchange Server, voice mail controls and Professional Developer Program along with tools such as the Titan platform.

Working on a Qualcomm 400 Mhz processor, the Palm Treo 800w phone is equipped with a full QWERTY thumbboard, five-way navigation and one-touch buttons to the most-used applications. It features a 320×320 pixels touch screen, a 256MB of user memory, 128MB program memory, a 2-megapixel camera and up to 8GB MicroSDHC memory card.

With the 800w smartphone, users can call, text, e-mail, perform a web search and map a contact’s address directly from the today screen. They also have the freedom to ignore a call by just sending a text message.

Sprint also offers access to Sprint TV, Sprint Navigation, Pocket Express and Sprint IM (Yahoo! Messenger, AIM and MSN Messenger).

Currently available in the US, the Palm Treo 800w costs $350 (approx. Rs. 15,127) with a two-year contract through Sprint.

    I am a world traveller, and all countries I travel to support only GSM where I buy a sim card for my phone for local calling. As the only user interface is via GSM, a non-GSM phone does not work.
