RIM announced that its BlackBerry Curve 8900 will be available in Canada through carrier Rogers and in the UK via O2.

The quad-band EDGE supported BlackBerry Curve 8900 features an 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, 512 MHz next-generation processor along with email, messaging, organizer and web browser applications. The sleek smartphone also comes equipped with GPS supporting TeleNav GPS Navigator, BlackBerry Maps, geotagging pictures.

Moreover, it includes a 2.4-inch HVGA+ light-sensing display with a resolution of 480 x 360 pixels; QWERTY keyboard, 3.2 megapixel auto focus, digital zoom, flash, image stabilization and video recording; up to 16 GB microSD/SDHC memory card support; and an enhanced media player.

Besides, the Curve 8900 comes embedded with a 3.5 mm stereo headset jack, activated dialing, enhanced background noise cancellation and a low-distortion speakerphone. It promises to offer up to 5.5 hours of talktime and 15 days of standby time.

Rogers Wireless has started selling the BlackBerry Curve 8900 for $179.99 (approx. Rs. 8,840), while O2 will make the sleek business phone available for purchase from 5th January 2009 for a suggested price of £234 (approx. Rs. 16,980).
