AT&T brings iPhone 3G to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands

AT&T has announced the launch of the much hyped iPhone 3G in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands on Oct. 17.

As we know the iPhone 3G is a combination of all the revolutionary features of iPhone plus 3G networking and is said to be two times faster than nation’s fastest 3G network. It comes with built-in GPS, iPhone 2.0 software and runs several third-party applications that are available through the Apple’s App Store.

“iPhone will arrive for AT&T customers in Puerto Rico on October 17,” said Jose Juan Davila, vice president and general manager of AT&T’s wireless operations in Puerto Rico. “AT&T is committed to offering the most innovative products and services to our customers, and we are pleased to be part of this great milestone in our market.”

The current At&T customers who are eligible for an upgrade discount and the customers activating a new line with AT&T can purchase the 8 GB iPhone 3G for $199 (approx Rs. 9,217) and the 16GB iPhone 3G for $299 (approx Rs.14,143) with two-year contract. While the current customers who are not eligible for an upgrade discount can purchase the 8 GB iPhone for $399 (approx Rs. 18,874) and the 16 GB for $499 (approx Rs. 23,600) with a two year contract. Current customers can choose to wait until they become eligible for an upgrade discount, the eligibility is determined by amount of time remaining on a current contract and payment history.
