Asus Eee Videophone

Asus introduces the first Skype certified videophone called the Eee Videophone which includes unlimited and free video calling. This device works without a computer and video-calling is done over the internet.

Asus and Skype have developed the Eee Videophone using a compact and stylish design and is part of the Eee Videophone family. Asus’ Eee Videophone can be utilized for business as well as personal purposes. The Eee Videophone offers many different functions and features. The device has a 7 inch LCD display screen with a built-in webcam, microphone and speaker.

The webcam gives excellent video and picture coverage despite poor lighting in the room. The Eee videophone produces excellent quality sound and crystal clear picture. There is also a standard mini-jack headset and microphone which is included with the Eee Videophone.

An icon-based user interface is incorporated in the Eee Videophone. Wireless WiFi and Wired LAN are the dual connections used for making internet calls on the videophone. The Eee Videophone works on a rechargeable battery which is built into the device. This makes the Videophone portable and hence can be placed anywhere.

Manrique Brenes, Skype’s director of business development and product management for consumer electronics explained, “The Eee Videophone is Skype’s first foray with a partner into the videophone category. With more than 25% of Skype-to-Skype calls including video, we know that video calling is an easy, accessible and relevant way for people to communicate. The videophone offers the benefits of video calling to a much wider audience, allowing friends and families to share their worlds face-to-face without being tied to a computer.”

Skype-to-Skype video and voice calls make receiving and calling a cinch. Video conferencing can also be possible on the Eee Videophone. Fixed and mobile lines available at affordable prices are used to make and receive calls. Customers are able to avail of different schemes like Skype’s unlimited calling subscriptions and Skype credit for outgoing calls.

Users have to simply follow three easy steps in order to get the Eee Videophone started. Firstly, they have to connect the device to a broadband connection through an Ethernet cable or wirelessly. Then sign in with one of Skype’s plans or subscriptions. Finally, consumers can start video calling.

The Eee Videophone is available to European customers for a price of £219.95 (approx. Rs.16,342). Consumers can place their orders for the device on Amazon.co.uk or the Skype shop.
