The more the merrier seems to be the latest mantra of Sony as the company has reloaded its existing lineup of Sony Vaio laptops in India by splashing them with even more colors. An event was held in Mumbai, India today to re-launch Sony Vaio S, C, E and Y series laptops garnished in sixteen different shades. Kareena Kapoor, the brand ambassador of the company together with the MD, Masaru Tamagawa unveiled the new variants.
The launch is said to be a result of Sony’s plans to increase sales of its laptop series by twofold in FY11. The slim and portable Vaio S series comes with a long battery life in five colors to choose from. The light-emitting C series is fitted with an HD screen to display discrete graphics and the six shades it is available in, give it a unique appearance.
The Sony Vaio E series aimed at young professionals and students provides an option of processors and four hues. It is said to be apt to carry out everyday computing functions while on the move. And the Vaio Y series claims to be budget-friendly, versatile and fit for beginners. It comes dipped in four distinct shades.
“Vaio contributes 20% to the total sales revenue of Sony India and hence a very important part of our business. This year, our objective is to ensure that we offer a Vaio to meet the lifestyle requirements of every customer. We have an exciting product line-up of 62 models, a robust distribution network of 1500 outlets and heavy marketing investment of Rs. 50 crore to reach our business target of 5 lakh units in FY11,†commented Masaru Tamagawa, Managing Director, Sony India.
Also, the company will launch a new campaign called ‘More colors. More Style’ to ensure a rise in sales. An investment of approximately Rs. 50 crore is expected to be made for this campaign. Products will be made available in 700 more retail stores in addition to the existing 800 bringing the total to 1500.
The Sony Vaio S, C, E and Y series laptops in India start at a price of Rs. 47,990, Rs. 54,990, Rs. 27,990 and Rs. 24,990, respectively. They are available at leading Sony authorized retail stores across the country.
