Dell introduces Latitude 13 laptop and Precision M6500 mobile workstation

Technology seems to be progressing towards mobile connectivity on an increasing level these days. Considering the number of manufacturers who have come out with gadgets that deliver mobile connectivity, consumer interest in them appears to have peaked considerably. Dell has now unveiled two new offerings dubbed the Latitude 13 laptop and Precision M6500 mobile workstation.

The 13” Latitude notebook packs in remote manageability, security and virtualization-ready design features into a sleek form factor. It offers Bluetooth, 802.11g/n wireless LAN and WWAN mobile broadband connectivity options. The device lends support to Broadcom TruManage intelligence and Dell ImageDirect services. Security atirbutes include SSDs, TPM, FDE and Computrace software. Moreover, an optional Blu-ray Disc drive and 5-in-1 card reader are also extended with this laptop.

Dell’s M6500 integrates Intel Core i7 – 920XM Quad Core Extreme Edition, Core i7 Dual Core or Core i5 dual core processor. It is Windows 7 32 or 64-bit/ Vista/XP and Linux 5.3 64-bit (with Red Hat)-enabled. The workstation comes with an optional 3.2MP camera, USB 3.0 as also Gobi 2.0 support. It sports a 17” screen that accommodates 100% user-selectable color gamut. Optional RAID 5 and three storage drives as well as a 64GB SSD MiniCard are proffered with this gizmo.

“Our customers’ issues are our issues and we’re increasingly seeing that solutions, not hardware is the center of the conversation,” commented Brett McAnally, director of Dell Product Group. “With the Latitude 13 and Dell Precision M6500 dual core, we’re refocusing our solutions to ensure we solve key customer concerns such as mobility and collaboration.”

Dell’s Latitude 13 and Precision M6500 will be made available for order in the coming weeks, though no word on the pricing details have emerged. Dell Services delivers a suite of customizable service and support solutions throughout the PC life-cycle apart from Dell ProSupport and Dell ProManage.
