The Aurora ALX claims to be Alienware’s most powerful microATX desktop to date. It boasts of Active Venting louver mechanisms, cable-free hard drive recesses, as well as internal theater lighting. The Aurora editions incorporate Intel Core i7 processors that can be overclocked to 3.6GHz. The system allows for competitive audio and video editing, 3D animation and renders 2TB of hard drive space for storage. Aurora ALX and Aurora feature dual 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics cards with up to 12GB DDR3 1600MHZ memory and 24GB DDR3 1333MHz memory respectively. Prices read upwards from $1,299 (approx. The 12GB DDR3 memory is clocked at 1333MHz for Area-51 and 1600MHz for Area-51 ALX. The six cable-free hard drive bays can accommodate 7,200RPM and 10,000RPM drives, SSDs and RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID10 configurations.
