New Samsung X360 Laptop, lighter than MacBook Air?

Samsung X360 Laptop Samsung announces its new ultra-lightweight laptop dubbed X360. The lightest 13.3-inch laptop weighs only 1.27 kg making it lighter than the MacBook Air which weighs around 1.36 kg.

The X360 sports a 13.3″ WXGA (1280 x 800) SuperBright LED backlit, an in-built HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) connection, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate), 802.11n wireless technology with Ethernet LAN connection, 7 in 1 memory card reader, 3 USB ports, a 34mm express card slot and a VGA output.

Besides, the X360 notebook sports an integrated 1.3 megapixel digital motion camera for video chatting, and Samsung P-Dock docking station for a one-click connection to access an array of ports to deliver better digital image quality on projectors or widescreen display. It is also compatible with Serial, 5 x USB, LAN, HDMI, SIO, e-SATA and DVI (Digital Video Interface).

According to HS Kim, Executive Vice President of Samsung Computer Systems Division, “The X360 pushes back the boundaries of form and function to deliver real style with substance. It offers a tremendous reduction in size and weight but without compromising on functionality, so users have everything they need for life on the move.”

Powered by Intel Centrino 2 Ultra Low Voltage processor technology, the Samsung X360 integrates all new 45 nano-meter sized Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processor to put the power of two processors into one. It also supports various Microsoft Windows operating systems such as Genuine Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium and Business.

A secured biometric fingerprint technology with trusted platform module authentication system is also added for data protection. Additionally it features a 128 GB Solid State Drive (SSD) that offers a data access time of up to 53 Mbps for reading and 28 Mbps for writing. It even equips a DDR3 1066MHz 1 GB ~ 4 GB memory, 120 GB (5400 rpm S-ATA), an external DVD super multi dual layer writer, one headphone-out and microphone.

Based on Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500 graphics core, the X360 assures incredible visual quality, faster graphics performance and flexible display options. It flaunts its Protect-O-Edge casing that is created by using durable magnesium alloy for amazing strength and superior reliability.

Apart from the above mentioned features, the Samsung X360 employs a Silver Nano Technology that keeps the keyboard bacteria-free. It also includes eco-friendly features such as removal of hazardous substances and material, optimised energy efficiency and effective material usage for a more environmentally friendly product.

Delivering up to 10 hours of continuous battery life on single charge, the Samsung X360 laptop is slated to reach the European market in September. The pricing has still not been announced.
