Every home has a few appliances that require a remote control to run. The difficult bit is when one cannot recognize which remote belongs to which device. Well, Logitech comes to the rescue with the universal Logitech Harmony 700.

This device features a color screen and can be powered by rechargeable batteries. This remote will make life a lot easier, as it comes with a one button control. The user does not have to go through a complex series of button presses. Once users complete an online setup they will simply need to select what they want to do, such as ‘watch a DVD’ and the remote does the rest. This device also comes with a color LCD screen which will at a glance give users access to all the entertainment options. Incase users are watching television, they can see icons for the preferred channels.

The rechargeable AA batteries of this remote claim to go several weeks once charged. All one needs to do in order for charging this device is plug it into the power adaptor.

“Digital music and the Internet have radically changed how we discover, share and listen to the music we love,” said Sam Feng, product marketing director of Logitech’s Streaming Media business unit. “Now, millions of people are downloading music through iTunes and listening to Internet radio stations and music services and our newest Logitech Squeezebox Wi-Fi music players bring it all together. Just plug one in and you can be ready to discover and enjoy music from around the world.”

The online setup of this device is pretty convenient as one needs to simply download a software and then the user will be prompted to enter the name of the component and its model number. The remote then takes care of the rest from Betamax to Blu-Ray. It is capable of controlling all IR home- electronic devices.

The Harmony 700 has been priced at $149.99 (approx Rs. 7278) and will be available in the US and Europe from this month.
