Microsoft Kinect for Xbox 360

It all started with the launch of Microsoft Kinect earlier this month. Ten days later, the sensor appeared to be the favorite of gamers since it touched one million sales mark. Now, Microsoft has announced that the Black Friday celebration held in the U.S. has paid off well for them since the sale for the Kinect for Xbox 360 has surpassed 2.5 million units worldwide.

The newly developed sensor was recently introduced in India as well. The company had lately revealed its plans to raise its worldwide sales target from 3 million to 5 million sensors by the end of this year. With figures like these, we can just estimate the results. The Kinect allows players to enjoy a controller-free experience on their Xbox 360.

“We are thrilled about the consumer response to Kinect, and are working hard with our retail and manufacturing partners to expedite production and shipments of Kinect to restock shelves as fast as possible to keep up with demand. With sales already exceeding two and a half million units in just 25 days, we are on pace to reach our forecast of 5 million units sold to consumers this holiday,” stated Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft.

The Kinect is presently available in 38 countries through more than 60,000 retailers. This device is idolized as a perfect gift for the holiday season by Microsoft. Moreover, gamers can control the Xbox 360 as well as games, movies, music and television with gestures and their voice.

The all-in-one Xbox 360 4GB Console with Kinect sensor and Kinect Adventures is available in India for Rs. 22,990, while the stand-alone unit costs Rs. 9,990.
