Amazon’s Kindle 3G to ship across all AT&T stores

AT&T Kindle 3GWith all that it has to offer, Amazon’s popular Kindle 3G sure seems to make for a worthy ebook reading device. To widen its availability, AT&T has announced that it will offer Amazon’s Kindle 3G across all its retail stores in the U.S. from March 6. The company will put this Amazon offering in its connected devices displays for consumers to check it out onsite.

This latest ebook reader can wirelessly download books, newspapers, magazines, personal documents and blogs via Wi-Fi as well as AT&T’s mobile broadband network. It shows off a 6” high-resolution electronic paper display which reads and looks akin to real paper. The gizmo’s paper-like Pearl E Ink display makes the experience of reading a soothing one and works fine in direct sunlight. This portable device can store up to 3,500 books and comes equipped with a battery life of up to one month.

“Amazon has without question pioneered the eReader space with Kindle, and it’s exciting to not only connect this device through our network, but now offer it in our stores to readers around the country,” shared Glenn Lurie, president, emerging devices, AT&T. “As the first dedicated eReader offered in our stores, we are confident the Kindle will be an attractive addition to our in store connected devices lineup.”

The Kindle Store now offers over 810,000 books including 107 of 111 New York Times Best Sellers and recent releases. Additionally, almost 670,000 of these books are available at price tag of $9.99 or even less. Amazon’s Whispersync technology ensures a heightened reading experience by synchronizing users entire Kindle library of bookmarks, books, last page read and highlights. Any book once bought can also be read using Kindle’s free apps on PC, iPhone, iPad Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Android-based devices.

The Kindle 3G will soon be up for grabs through all AT&T retail stores at a price of $189.
