Barnes Noble Nook Wi-Fi

Voracious readers or book lovers usually like to collect as many best-selling books as possible to expand their book collection. Barnes & Noble gives users a larger amount of choice with the latest addition to its Nook portfolio, the Nook Wi-Fi. The company has also lowered the price of the Nook 3G.

With the Nook Wi-Fi, readers are now offered with a color touchscreen for navigation and E-Ink display for a great reading experience with Wi-Fi connectivity. Both the devices are enhanced with the latest 1.4 software update which provides users with higher connectivity. Well, the company with this upgrade is offering all Nook users complimentary access to AT&T’s Wi-Fi network, including Barnes & Noble bookstores which was earlier available to Nook users.

The Nook Wi-Fi blends innovative technology and sleek minimalist design with Wi-Fi connectivity. Users can benefit using in-home and public Wi-Fi to browse the Web and shop online. The new Nook Wi-Fi features LendMe technology which enables users to share eBooks with their friends for up to 14 days. Other advantages subsume ‘Read In Store’ which lets users browse through eBooks in the Barnes & Noble stores with no added cost and ‘More In Store’ which offers exclusive content and special promotions for free.

“People who love to read will find tremendous value with the new NOOK Wi-Fi, the most full-featured, low-cost eReading device on the market, and our bestselling NOOK 3G now at an even lower price. This expanded choice offers best-in-class, best-priced dedicated eBook Readers featuring eBook sharing, access to our vast eBookstore, great free and exclusive content and much more,” shared Tony Astarita, Vice President, Digital Products, Barnes & Noble.com. “And with expansion of fast and free Wi-Fi access beyond Barnes & Noble stores to thousands of AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots, we’re bringing additional freedom and flexibility to all Nook 3G and Nook Wi-Fi customers.”

Nook Wi-Fi adorns a paper-like 6-inch E-Ink display with high contrast and no backlight. A 3.5-inch LCD lower color touchscreen for navigation is also packed in. Just like the Nook 3G, the Nook Wi-Fi equips highlights such as huge catalog of content, In-store experience with Barnes & Noble stores, battery life of up to 10 days on a single battery charge, and access to games, music and Web.

The light and portable library tips the scale at 11.6 ounces and lets users enjoy an immersive reading experience with fast page turns. With removable back covers, users can now select their own color back cover for added personalization. A USB cable can also be used to connect the Nook Wi-Fi and the Nook 3G to a PC or Mac in order to transfer users’ personal files in ePub, PDF and PDB formats.

The Nook Wi-Fi is available online for $149 (approx Rs.6,920) and will begin shipping next week. On the other hand, the Nook 3G is priced at $199 (approx Rs. 9,250). Just to notify, the latest 1.4 software update is now available online for all Nook devices.
