NEC NP216 DLP portable projector

NEC Logo NEC puts forth its new NP Portable Series of projectors with the fully-featured NP216 DLP projector. Offering amazing images and advanced capabilities in education applications and conference rooms, the projector utilizes the DLP technology and comprehensive connectivity in this portable device.

The NP216 offers an advanced feature set that can prove to be beneficial to teachers as well as corporate users. Some salient features include multiple computer inputs, improved RS-232 and RJ45 connections and the latest DLP Link technology. The support for 3D and the variable audio-out add to the convenience.

“NEC’s new NP216 offers educators flexible connectivity options that work for them and allows simple technology integration into the classroom,” said Rich McPherson, Product Manager for projectors at NEC Display Solutions. “Teachers and corporate users alike will find the expansive feature set to be incredibly versatile and functional, providing them with the tools they need to effectively communicate to their audience.”

An extended lamp life up to 5000 hours, ECO ModeT technology and lower power consumption to 217W (0.49W in standby mode) are enabled by the device. The efficient power management automatically turns off the projector when no incoming signal is detected on any of the inputs and the quick start (3-4 seconds) and shutdown technology powers off the device, eliminating the need for cooling time. The new remote with green ECO Mode button helps improve the projector’s carbon footprint.

The feature-sheet of the NP216 reveals native resolution of 1024 x 768 XGA, up to 2500 lumens of brightness, AV mute and video image freeze, fine-tuning adjustments, built-in wall color correction presets and also security functions like Kensington lock, keypad lock, password security system and security bar.

The NP216 will start shipping in April 2010 at an estimated street price of $1,099 (approx Rs. 50,355). Backed by a standard 2-year parts and labor warranty and first year of InstaCare, the lamp has been covered for one year or 500 hours while education and star student customers get two additional years (4 years total) on their NP216 warranty.
