Asus’ five VH series LCD monitors namely VH202T-P, VH222H-P, VH232H-P, VH236H-P and VH242H-P have now been bestowed with the EPEAT certificate at the Gold level. The 20 to 24 inch products have achieved the criteria required by EPEAT to give them a Gold rating.
Various environmental attributes are taken into consideration when EPEAT checks and evaluates different personal computers. If their desired standards are met then the products are certified with the Gold level honor. The VH series LCD monitors from Asus are the latest products to attain this eco-friendly label. Other Asus products to earn this status are the Bamboo series and N series notebooks.
The eight Environmental Performance Categories set by the IEEE 1680 standard are reduction or elimination of environmentally sensitive materials, design for end of life, materials selection and product longevity/life cycle extension. Other categories include end of life management, corporate performance, packaging and energy conservation. The Asus VH series LCD monitors have successfully met all these categories.
This honor is achieved thanks to the GreenAsus steering committee headed by the Chairman of AsusTek Computer, Jonney Shih. The committee is driven by four ‘home runs’ namely Green Design, Green Manufacturing, Green Procurement and finally Green Services and Marketing.
New manufacturing techniques are utilized while producing the VH series monitors. These techniques helped in the reduction of mercury and post-consumer recycled plastic use. All this is done without affecting the product performance and delivery in any way.
