Sony to offer novel, cheaper e-book readers

Sony E-Book Readers The rumors of the PRS-300 and PRS-600 e-book readers to be launched by Sony had surfaced recently. The news is now official as the company publicizes its new e-book readers. Dubbed as the Reader Pocket Edition and the Reader Touch Edition, these cheaper e-book models deliver enhanced performance.

Dressed in blue, rose and silver, the PRS-300 called as the Pocket reader comprises of a 5-inch display screen. This compact device fits into any purse or jacket pocket effortlessly. It has a storage space of 350 standard e-books. Also, this model provides two weeks of enjoyable reading experience on a single battery charge.

The PRS-600 named as the Touch model flaunts a receptive menu-driven 6-inch touchscreen and a stylus pen. Including an onboard Oxford American English Dictionary, this device comes in red, black or silver colors. The dictionary helps its users to easily lookup for words simply by tapping on it.

“We firmly believe consumers should have choice in every aspect of their digital reading experience,” shared Steve Haber, president of Sony’s Digital Reading Business Division. “Our goal is to expand the market and provide greater access to what consumers want to read when they want to read it whether they buy, borrow or get it for free.”

Both the Pocket reader and the Touch reader swanks USB and Wi-Fi connectivity along with Mac compatibility. These models incorporate a USB cable and a striking protective sleeve.

The Reader Pocket Edition and the Reader Touch Edition will be shipping by the end of this month for a price of $199 (approx. Rs. 9,490) and $299 (approx. Rs. 14,259) respectively.
