Philips has decided to take its Ambilight technology one step ahead by releasing Aurea series of LCD TVs.
Philips’ new series TVs feature semi-transparent frame, which allows the light to pass through it and achieve an overall glowing effect.
There is no official statement made from Philips, but it is said that the TVs will incorporate hidden stereo speakers and a subwoofer built into the semi-transparent frame.
Besides, the TVs will sport 1080p HD resolution and 8000:1 contrast ratio.
The Aurea series is expected to be available in the European market initially. The 42-inch 42PFL9900D would be the first model from the series to be launched at a price as high as 5000 euros (around Rs. 2,77,570).
