Olympus recently introduced its SZ-30MR camera with multi-recording function for shooting 1080p HD videos and 16MP stills. The company has now unleashed its new Olympus LS-20M Linear PCM recorder. This device claims to be the first to capture and edit 1080p HD videos while recording 24 bit/96hHz Linear PCM stereo sound.
Users can record full HD movies with one of three video format settings up to 1080p for refined HD video clarity. The camera lens and microphones are precisely positioned on the top edge of the device. The integrated 2-inch color LCD on the front displays the video simultaneously when the user is recording. The 1.46-inch LCD data screen fitted right below the video LCD highlights the time, audio levels and battery life.

The HD video compression format renders a seamless experience to upload videos to Facebook, YouTube, iTunes, Vimeo and other web-based content sharing sites. Besides Magic Movie special effects technology, the camera boasts of a 4.1mm autofocus lens and 4x digital zoom as well as its ability to record in dim light conditions. The Magic Movie special effects settings include rock, sketch, pinhole and pop. It also delights many users with manual or auto-level recording. The switchable low-cut filter promises to restrict low-frequency sounds and undesired background noises.
This device records crisp and superior sound quality using two condenser mics, and the capability to capture in Linear PCM and MP3 formats. The voice-activation feature intuitively begins recording when a specific level of sound is accomplished while the self-timer feature initiates the recording process after a fixed amount of time. Crafted with a sturdy yet attractive design, the Olympus LS-20M can be conveniently carried along while travelling.
The record button gets illuminated on activation and the thumb panel allows easy adjustments to settings while recording memorable moments. Users can ensure an improved connectivity experience with advanced USB and HDMI capabilities. The camera packs in a 2GB SD card which can be expanded up to 32GB using a SDHC card, rechargeable Lithium-ion battery and USB cable. Further, the optional RS-30W wireless remote enhances the overall utility level.
The Olympus LS-20M Linear PCM recorder can be purchased for an estimated street price of US$299.99 (approx Rs. 13,415) beginning June 2011.
