Sony adds AF support with A-mount lenses to Handycam NEX-VG10E

Sony Handycam NEX-VG10E

With the introduction of interchangeable lens in camcorders by Sony, the NEXVG10 seems to have become the eye-candy of photography buffs. The company has further leveraged the model by adding autofocus operation when using the latest Handycam NEX-VG10E with a wide range of optional A-mount interchangeable lenses.

Users can also improve their previous variant with a free firmware upgrade which bundles in AF support with 14 A-mount SAM and SSM lens models. The autofocus compatibility of this new NEX-VG10E with A-mount lenses requires the optional LA-EA1 Mount Adaptor as well as a separate firmware upgrade for the LA-EA1. Videographers can enjoy smooth and accurate autofocus operation which subsumes telephotos, primes and zooms by Sony and Carl Zeiss.

For PC users, the camcorder requires Windows XP SP3 where 64-bit and Starter editions are not supported, Windows Vista SP2 in which Starter edition is not supported or Windows 7. Mac owners can use this device on their OS X v10.5 or v10.6 computing systems with minimum hard disk space of 200MB and minimum RAM memory of 512MB. While upgrading, users need a USB cable between the computer and the NEX-VG10E.

The novel NEX-VG10E camcorder can now be purchased for £1,899 (approx Rs. 1,36,920), including VAT. Users can download the latest firmware upgrade by Sony for free from the company’s official website.
