To the camera-loving enthusiast’s delight, Olympus seems to be on a roll. After unmasking their Pen E-PL1 camera, the company will also unveil the Olympus SP-800UZ, come this March. The camera comes with a 14MP CCD and 3†widescreen LCD.
The SP-800UZ’s high-magnification zoom lens offers focal lengths ranging from 28mm wide-angle to 840mm telephoto. It delivers 30 x optical zoom which can be extended to a range of 150 x when combined with digital zooming. CCD-shift image stabilization and high-sensitivity imaging technology aid in preventing picture blurring.
This camera makes extended HDTV video recording possible by capturing footage in MPEG-4 AVC / H.264 movie compression format. The SD/SDHC memory card compatible device allows for video recording with a simple touch of a button. It possesses 2GB of memory and extends HDMI output control.
Other features include the company’s [ib] software, photo-surfing, Shadow Adjustment technology, Magic Filter effects, iAuto, AF tracking, AF Illuminator, Face Detection AF, Scene Modes and background defocusing. The camera’s battery may be charged via USB from a PC while recorded data is being stored and organized.
Olympus’ SP-800UZ digital camera will be out in the color titanium silver in March 2010. The pricing details are unclear for now.
