Sony W290, W270 and W230 Cameras

Sony unveils a host of W-series Cyber-Shot cameras, namely W290 and W270 along with W230.

All the three cameras feature a 12.1 megapixel resolution, Carl Zeiss 5x optical zoom (not in W230), optical SteadyShot for clearer handheld shooting, advanced face detection and smile shutter technology.

Powered by the BIONZ processor, the W-series cameras offer unblemished images with high sensitivity ensured by ISO 3200. Excluding the W230, the W290 and the W270 boast their ability to record 720p HD movie clips with stereo sound to enjoy on HDTVs.

The Cyber-Shot W290 and W270 digital cameras incorporate 28mm wide angle lens, whereas the W230 possesses a 4x optical zoom and 30mm wide angle lens.

Coming to the display size, the Cyber-Shot W290 and W230 have a large 3-inch Clear Photo LCD plus screen with high contrast viewing experience. However, the screen size of the W270 is not known.

Other than that, the three Cyber-Shot models integrate the Picture Motion Browser 4.0 and a new version of Sony’s image management system to sort, view and search photos and video clips on a computer.

The cameras are accompanied with optional accessories such as genuine leather case, pressed leather case or a casual soft carrying case in four color tones. The models also come bundled with a built-in memory card with SD support and GPS unit kit GPS-CS3KA to geo-tag clicked photos. With this, users can easily view them on maps with Google Earth while uploading on web sharing services.

While the Cyber-Shot W290 and W270 cameras are scheduled to reach the market by mid-March 2009, the W230 camera will roll out in mid-April.
