It is compatible with TIFF, JPEG or NEF (RAW) formats while recording. Offering optimum speed, it also has the ability to record image files to UDMA compatible CompactFlash cards.

Additionally, the D3X can also shoot images in the 5:4 crop mode with 20.4-megapixel resolution for developing 8 x 10-inch portraits. The digital SLR ensures faster continuous shooting of up to 7fps at 10.5 megapixels, thanks to the usage of DX-format lenses.

The Nikon D3X also features EXPEED Image Processing System that ensures high-end image quality, faster processing speeds and lower power consumption. It also comes with an in-built Scene Recognition System to offer accurate color and fine detailed portraits and overwhelming landscapes; Nikon’s exclusive 3D Color Matrix Metering II and Active D-Lighting to provide realistic contrast and accurate exposures while taking images.

Other features of the new digital SLR camera includes Multi-CAM 3500FX focus module with 51 AF points with 3 AT-areas-mode, two Live View modes, 15 cross type sensors and 36 horizontal sensors along with up to 27x zoom function, 3.0-inch LCD screen and HDMI support to view images or videos on an external display.

With the included Nikon’s Picture Control System, users can adjust the photos to pre-set parameters such as Standard, Neutral, Vivid and Monochrome and sharpen the image accordingly. Besides, It also comes embedded with Nikon’s Creative Lighting System (CLS), Nikon’s GP-1 GPS receiver, support for USB and WT-4a wireless transmitter.

Moreover, it also has the ability to withstand moisture, dust and shock, due to its resilient magnesium alloy body.

The Nikon D3X digital SLR camera is scheduled to hit the Indian market by January 2009 and will be available for Rs. 5,24,950.
