Kingston Technology expands its mobile memory product line with the launch of new 8GB and 16GB microSD High Capacity (SDHC) flash memory cards.

The 8GB microSDHC card provides abundant storage options with smallest footprint available to mobile handsets and other digital devices. It can hold about 1500 digital songs, around 4000 pictures taken with 5 megapixel camera phone or up to eight hours of video.

“Consumers are demanding more from their mobile phones, expecting them to perform as portable music or game players, digital cameras, email communicators, browsers and navigators. Having enough storage capacity, particularly in the form of memory cards, keeps internal device memory free to deliver all this multi-functionality,” said Scott Chen, Vice President of APAC Region, Kingston. “Our 8GB and 16GB microSDHC cards are so roomy that mobile users can easily move entire digital libraries from a PC to their mobile phones – and beyond,” he added.

These microSD card look-alike, microSDHC cards, support only microSDHC enabled devices, they aren’t backward compatible.

The 8GB and 16GB microSDHC memory cards support FAT 32 file format and SD Association Specification, Version 2.00. These cards can be utilized as complete SDHC or mini SDHC memory cards with appropriate adapter.

With 11mm x 15mm x 1mm dimensions, the 8GB card comes with 4MB/sec minimum data transfer rate and weighs 1.4g (0.05 oz).

Kingston 8GB and 16GB microSDHC memory cards are priced at Rs.1699 and Rs.4499 respectively, in India. These cards come with a lifetime warranty and will be available through Shreepati Computers, HCL Infosystems, Compuage Infocom, Sunrise Info Solutions, Tech Pacific India, Transtek Infoways and Neoteric Informatique.
