Asus unveils ENGTX285 and EAH4890 series Graphics Cards with Super ML Caps

Asus ENGTX285 EAH4890 series

Asus presents the latest addition to its family of graphics cards with the ENGTX285 and EAH4890 Series. According to the company, these products are the world’s first graphics cards to use Multilayer Polymer Capacitors (Super ML Caps). These self-designed boards give users high GPU overlocking margins and cooler GPU temperatures.

With the high capacitance in the Caps, these cards can stable system operations, produce reliable power and superior overlocking margins. The low Equivalent Series Resistance creates higher ripple current with high power efficiency. This helps reduce the temperature by up to 15°C and 8°C of the GPU and memory modules respectively in the ENGTX285.

PCs can be switched on even at freezing temperatures of under -15°C due to the Cap’s low-temperature impedance. The Cap can also be placed near the GPU without any hassles. This results in a quicker response and lower voltage noise for better stability. Equipped with the Cap, the overlocking limits of the ENGTX285 increase 3.3 times.

The EAH4890 Series also boasts of other features like the fansink and Voltage Tweak technology. The specially designed fansink in this series is equipped with six 230mm heatpipes which help maximize the heat dissipation efficiently. When this feature is coupled with the low-ESR Super ML Cap, it generates 10°C cooler GPU temperatures as compared to other standard boards.

The Voltage Tweak boosts GPU voltages from 1.312V up to 1.4V by just clicking the SmartDoctor application. When this technology is combined with the ML Cap, the overlocking limits are increased to 1000/4800MHz. All these features give game enthusiasts a great gaming experience.

The ENGTX285 TOP default core, shader and memory clock performance are increased to 670MHz, 1550MHz and 2600MHz respectively. The EAH4890 TOP’s default core and memory clock performance are increased to 900MHz and 4000MHz respectively. Asus claims the 3D Mark Vantage Extreme Preset increases 5% and 8% in the ENGTX285 and EAH4890 respectively when compared to other standard boards.

The graphics cards give customers top quality visual performance with reduced EMI of 66%. The Covered Chokes generate less heat and have increased power efficiency of up to 25% when compared to Toroidal Coil Chokes. When compared to thick versions, the low RDS (on) MOSFET reduces the temperatures by up to 15°C.

The solid capacitors used in the boards lower power loss for stable operations and durability. The solid capacitors have a lifespan which reaches 60,000 hours and a 5,000 hour operation time is achievable under severe conditions of 108°C. These attributes make the cards usable in any environment without any hindrance.

The ENGTX285/HTDI/1GD3 and ENGTX285 TOP/HTDI/1GD3 have GeForce graphics engine, PCI Express 2.0 bus standard, 1GB DDR3 video memory with 512-bit memory interface and DVI Max. resolution of 2560 x 1600. Also included is D-Sub output, DVI output, HDMI output and Asus utilities and drivers. The cards are 4.376 x 10.5 inches in size.

The EAH4890/HTDI/1GD5 and EAH4890 TOP/HTDI/1GD5 boasts of ATI Radeon HD 4890 graphics engine with 1GB GDDR5 video memory. They have a 256 bit memory interface, DVI Max. resolution of 2560 x 1600 and PCI Express 2.0 bus standard. Other features include HDTV, HDMI, D-SUB outputs and Asus utilities and drivers.

To further encourage gamers, Asus ENGTX285 Series lets customers avail of a limited edition coupon that comes with the card. With these coupons, consumers can get up to $25 (approx. Rs.1,240) in value or 10% off on CUDA applications on the Nzone webpage or up to 5 games. Gamers can choose from a wide array of games such as Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3. Also offered are the newest games from CUDA applications such as Badaboom which will showcase the true worth of these graphic cards.

The price and availability of the ENGTX285 and EAH4890 Series graphics cards are not known.
