Gateway has launched its new NV series of notebooks, a fusion of the latest notebook technologies and an affordable price. The series includes two notebooks dubbed Gateway NV5214u and Gateway NV5807u. Along with multitasking capabilities, these notebooks support processors and graphics from both Intel and AMD.
The only difference between the two models is that the NV5214u comes with AMD Athlon 64 X2 QL-64 Dual Core Processor and AMD RS780MN Chipset, while the NV5807u comes with Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 processor and Mobile Intel GM459 Express Chipset. The gateway NV series notebooks feature a 15.6-inch LED-backlit TFT widescreen display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1366×768 pixels. To complement the picture quality these notebooks include Dolby Sound Room technology. Moreover, the HDMI port allows users to enjoy their videos on external LCD. The connectivity features includes WiFi b/g, WLAN and Bluetooth.

To make the notebooks easier to use, the NV series includes one-touch MyBackup and PowerSave keys. The MyBackup key takes a complete backup of the system with the touch of a button while the PowerSave key prolongs the battery life. The Gateway NV Series notebooks feature a subtle Honeycomb pattern and are available in four distinct colors including NightSky Black, Midnight Blue, Cherry Red and Coffee Brown. The wide-size of these notebooks provide room for a widescreen display and a dedicated numeric key pad. The touchpad lock prevents accidental cursor movement.
The other specifications of the NV series include media card reader, DVD burner, up to 320GB of hard disk drive storage, 4GB of DDR2 memory, integrated webcam, Windows Vista Home Premium and 6-cell Li-ion battery.
The Gateway NV series notebooks will be made available with various configurations to suit every budget. The Gateway NV5214u comes with a price tag of $499.99 (approx. Rs.24,326) while the Gateway NV5807u will cost $599.99 (approx. Rs.29,200).
