Samsung SMX-C14 and SMX-C10

Samsung shoots its way into the hands of customers with two new camcorders namely the SMX- C14 and C10. These ergonomically designed devices also boast of Samsung’s Touch of Color finish which first debuted with its flat-panel HDTVs. This design adds a tinge of color to its deep black body giving it a crystalline finish.

These camcorders have a 10x optical zoom and decrease blurry images with the Hyper Image Stabilization. They also sport a 230,000-dot 2.7 inch LCD display screen and Active Angle Lens. Customers can effortlessly handle the camcorders as they include a comfortable design which does not impose too much stress on the wrist and elbow. The display screen does not hinder the users view enabling them to clearly see the subject they are shooting.

The SMX-C14 has a built-in flash memory of 16GB which can be expanded through a SD/SDHC memory card slot. When used with standard definition video, the H.264 compression improves the recording time. Due to this, six whole hours of video footage can be attained. The SMX-C10 however does not posses internal memory and needs to utilize SD/SDHC media. The cameras on a single charge can achieve two hours and forty minutes of record time.

“The SMX-C14 and SMX-C10 are truly unique camcorders, starting with their eye-catching ToC design. In addition to being ultra-compact, ergonomic and stylish, these camcorders offer a host of advanced, yet easy-to-use capabilities that encourage consumers to integrate video recording into their everyday digital lifestyles.” said Reid Sullivan, senior vice president of Audio/Video and Digital Imaging Marketing at Samsung Electronics America.

A play-sharing program known as Samsung’s intelli-studio is found in these camcorders. Customers can upload their footage to a computer through a USB to edit and play the videos. The program enables this to be easily done without the need of installing supportive software.

Also uploading content onto video-sharing sites online is a snap with the intelli-studio. To directly connect to YouTube, consumers have to simply press the ‘upload’ button located on the cameras. Basic on-camera editing like merging and splitting video files can be done on these devices.

Unique features such as the animated thumbnails, versatile charging system and time-lapse recording are enabled in the SMX- C14 and C10. The animated thumbnails makes searching for video clips easy as a pie. Each clip is represented as a small thumbnail which can be viewed via the LCD screen. When highlighted, the thumbnail gives a mini playback of the footage allowing consumers to view the content.

The camera can be programmed to capture footage at a set interval of one image every 1, 3, 5, 10, 15 or 30 seconds with the time-lapse feature. This is useful for condensing really long events. Customers can recharge the battery through the included AC adapter or through the USB.

The SMX-C14 and SMX-C10 camcorders from Samsung will be available in July, 2009. The pricing of the camcorders is not known.
