HP has taken its basic workstations a step forward with the Z- series. The three Z-series models Z800, Z600 and Z400 are a combination of more than 20 HP designs. These devices feature self-checking power-supply mechanism and the all new Intel Xeon processor. This has enhanced the performance of the workstations by 3 to 5 times.

These devices have been designed to serve the demanding and ever-changing needs of the customers. Sporting a sleek industrial design with brushed aluminum side panels, the workstations feature tool-less access chassis, integrated handles and cable-less engineering. They have set new standards for energy efficiency, service and lowered acoustics.

“The new Z Workstations series is the newest addition, which facilitates easy serviceability at the fingertip, from the power supply to the motherboard,” said Anurag Gupta, Country Manager – Workstations, Personal Systems Group, HP India. “Studies have shown that an HP Z Workstation pays for itself in a surprisingly short period with its performance and productivity gains.”

The devices feature the Intel Xeon processor 5500 series integrated with memory controllers, Intel Turbo Boost Technology, series of professional graphics solution, high definition audio and solid-state drives. They also include DASH Management Technology which takes the help of the hardware and software stock features to provide precise responses. The workstation includes a unique WattSaver feature that deals with the management of power in the off state. The workstations also claim to be 85 percent efficient in power supply by reducing both energy usage and heat released.

The Z800 is designed for users working with 3-D animation, broadcast video, medical imaging and other such applications. It also features Intel QuickPath Technology that offers users an advanced input/output performance for any application. The workstation also incorporates a liquid cooling option.

The Z600 is specifically designed to deliver high performance in a compressed size. It is claimed to be the best companion for professionals working in the field of video production, finance and midrange CAD. This device is capable of supporting up to eight displays and also features an HP Vision Field Diagnostics that allows user to capture system configuration data and share it with the IT personnel.

The HP Z400 is designed for all those into video editing, photography, design and engineering. This device also features Next-Generation Intel Microarchitecture (Nehalem) and liquid-cooling option. It is the first ever single socket workstation.

The pricing of theses devices is unclear.
